Community-Centered Medicine: Tools for Elevating Your Impact
ASPCA instructors give first- and second-year students a highly interactive introduction to a wide range of animal welfare topics, engaging in activities including practicing spay/neuter techniques using models, assuming the role of crime scene investigators on animal cruelty cases, analyzing clinical histories and evidence to determine appropriate case management approaches, and learning skills that will help them advocate for animals and pet owners in their communities. These are essential skills for early students to learn, regardless of the specific veterinary field they choose to enter.
"I found all the courses valuable in their own way. Being exposed to different aspects of veterinary medicine that do not get discussed in our everyday curriculum opened my eyes to all the opportunities and situations that may present themselves when I complete my time here at Auburn."
