2024 ASPCA Hurricane Response & Relief Grants Initiative
Grants are now open and RFP will close on Monday, 12/2/2024, at 5 p.m. ET or when funding runs out.
To support animals and communities impacted by Hurricanes Helene and Milton, the ASPCA is offering $1 million in grants to cover expenses of animal welfare and other organizations supporting disaster response and relief for animals including supplies, transport costs, and veterinary care.
These grants are made possible in part through generous gifts from The Rachael Ray Foundation™ and The Silberstein Foundation.
Grant Amounts
Grants will generally range from $5,000 - $50,000, but requests for other amounts will be considered. The total funding available for this grant opportunity is up to $1 million.
Eligibility
Applicants must be a non-profit animal welfare organization or municipal agency with a focus on animal welfare or an organization or municipal agency providing general disaster assistance looking to provide support to animals in its community.
Applicants must be located in or responding to an area affected by Hurricanes Helene or Milton in FL, GA, NC, SC, TN, and VA.
Applicants must meet ASPCA Grantee Organizational Standards:
- If a past ASPCA grant recipient, must be current on all reporting requirements
- If a nonprofit organization
- Must be an incorporated or organized legal entity in good standing with the Secretary of State in the state where the organization is incorporated or organized
- Must have a board of at least 3 members with a majority of independent members with neither board chair nor treasurer receiving compensation from the organization
- Charitable registration must be current/active in the state of the Grantee’s primary location (for grants >=$25,000)

Funding Guidelines
Grant funds can be used to cover expenses incurred due to the direct impact of Hurricanes Helene or Milton or in support of animals in communities affected by Hurricane Helene or Milton including, but not limited to the following:
- Sheltering Supplies
- Community Pet Supplies
- Animal Transportation Costs
- Medical Supplies
- Veterinary Care
- Staff O/T
Grant funding cannot be used to cover ongoing/preexisting expenses such as staff salaries and general facility costs that are included in your regular operating budget or facility repairs that would be covered by insurance.
Timeline
- RFP will close on Monday, 12/2/2024, at 5 p.m. ET. or when funding runs out, whichever is earlier.
- Funding decisions will be made on a rolling basis and communicated to applicants in the period 11/4/2024 through 12/20/2024.
